Located on Timaru’s mole between the harbour and Caroline Bay, TYPBC has some of the best yachting clubroom facilities in New Zealand. With views to the north swinging across the Bay around to the mountains to the West and further south, sunsets over Timaru are easily enjoyed.
The two storey building includes an upper and lower deck on the second level, with kitchen and bar areas. Many groups make use of the venue for functions such as weddings, receptions, socials, business meetings, educational and sporting events. The lower level includes toilet, shower, and changing rooms.
Availability is generally on a first-come first-serve basis, pending approval by the club committee.

Hire Fees
Scope of hire:
The first floor may be hired for meetings or for events.
The first floor includes both upper and lower parts of the split level (called lower and upper decks), the use of the kitchen and hot water.
Rates (GST inclusive)
- Meetings: $230 for up to 4 hours. Use of the kitchen is included. BYO tea, coffee and milk.
- Special events: $355* for a full day hire for events. Includes use of the kitchen and a staffed bar**.
**This fee includes a Special Liquor Licence fee (deducted if alcohol-free). Please note that the bar must be run by a qualified Bar Manager and assisted by a Servewise certified person.
Rubbish disposal costs may apply.
Special Licence
We need to apply to the District Licensing Committee at least 20 working days before an event. In practice this means:
- Event in January or February- we apply 2 months before the event (because there are only 26 working days in December plus January)
- Event in any other month - we apply 6 weeks before the event

Upper and lower decks may not be hired separately.
Under no circumstances may any hirer bring alcohol sourced elsewhere onto TYPBC premises.
This is a sports club and so is a smokefree and vape-free premise.
All charges shown are GST inclusive.
A $500 bond is required but will be returned on leaving the premises in clean and tidy order; if not, cleaning fees may be withheld from the Bond.
